Be Our Guest!

We love talking to the people who are building great organizations in Ohio.

Weekly Impact by Lay of the Land is a short-form podcast designed to introduce and connect leaders and builders in the Ohio entrepreneurial community.

When we invite guests on the show, it is either because we want to shine some light on a recent accomplishment or award that a leader or business has received or because we would like to gather the insights of a leader on a recent Lay of the Land episode.

The Recognition Shows

These Weekly Impact episodes are conversations with leaders recently recognized by an organization for their accomplishments. We see this as a good opportunity to ask leaders to reflect on what contributed to their success: their insights on business and leadership, the people who have supported and mentored them, and the team members who made it possible.

Guests have the opportunity to promote awareness of their organizations and what makes it a valuable part of the Ohio community. We ask questions about each guest’s approach to leading their organization. Specifically, you should be prepared to answer the following questions:

  • What makes your business unique?
  • What leadership lessons guide your approach?
  • What mistakes or mentors have informed your approach to leading your organization?
  • Is there anyone you need to thank for this recognition?

For your convenience, we will be using a web interface to record the interviews. All you need is the same computer with a camera and microphone that you use for Zoom, Teams, or Meet calls.

The LotL Review Shows

Many Weekly Impact episodes are reviews of a recent Lay of the Land episode, highlighting favorite parts or Impact Moments from one of Jeffrey Stern’s interviews. We invite other leaders to join in a review of the long-form interview on Lay of the Land. The Weekly Impact short-form review is sometimes all that our fans have time for, or they may listen to our review first to see if they want to listen to the full interview.

All Guests have the opportunity to build awareness of what makes their business a valuable part of the Ohio community. Usually, we will request your feedback on a specific episode, but we are always open to our guests’ suggestions. Your enthusiasm is part of the value of the show.

Specifically, you should have answers to the following questions:

  • What makes your business unique?
  • How do you relate to the topic of the episode?
  • What did you learn from the episode?
  • Is there a nugget of wisdom or an Impact Moment you would like to call out?
  • Was there anything that surprised you?
